Game Description

The year is 2142. After half the world is devastated by the melting of the Ice in the Polar Regions, much of the planet is now useless. Survivors have flocked to the equator regions and decided to ignore what is best for the world. Now, every man is for himself and he must scrap for the remaining inhabitable terrain with high-tech weapons and vehicles.

In Battlefield 2142, there will be two factions to choose from: the fictional Pan Asian Coalition and the European Union. Though land may be scarce, technology apparently isn't. Gamers will be able to roam the ground in battle hardened mechs and pilot futuristic aircraft that rule the skies. In this post-apocalyptic world, the Infantry won't simply be crushed underfoot of said mechs; they'll have some tricks up their sleeves, including EMP (electro-magnetic pulse) grenades to put machines on the fritz and cloaking devices to sneak around the playing field undetected.

Mutiplayer experience will include support for up to 64 players, that, depending on their success in combat, will be able to gain new weapons, medals, and ranks. There will be a commander mode for those players wishing to go "behind the scenes" and direct the strategic assaults of their teammates.

Battlefield 2142 is scheduled to ship in the Fall of 2006. We'll update this space as more information becomes available.
